Hostels are enjoying something of a renaissance in recent times as travellers go in search of value for money with no compromise in essential facilities and features. The YHA in Berwick takes this philosophy a step further by providing exceptional hostel accommodation within an historic fully restored former granary, adding some traditional style and visual appeal to high levels of comfort and a host of useful functions. The Granary is easy to find, just look along the quayside for Berwick’s very own version of the leaning tower of Pisa.

There are 13 bedrooms available at the hostel, all of which have en suite facilities. There are private rooms and family rooms and so plenty of opportunities for couples and families to explore Berwick and the surrounds on a budget.

A café bistro on site provides the necessary sustenance for each day’s adventures in the area and the location, on the quayside overlooking the Tweed, is convenient for accessing all the other shops, bars, restaurants and attractions in town. There is even an art gallery housed within the hostel, ensuring some culture is never far away.

All the other most common hostel facilities are in place too, from the laundry and self-catering kitchen to the lounge and TV spaces. In addition to these there are features for business, most notably with the educational meeting room and conferencing facilities and Wi-Fi is available in all the public areas.

If inspired by the art gallery, guests can take a walk along the Lowry trail in town to see some of the landmarks from Lowry paintings and of course as a very popular visitor destination, Berwick has a wealth of further artistic and cultural attractions. Those with no inclination for cooking will find many excellent dining and drinks options in town too.
